🔶 Attack on “Christopher Street Day” event in Berlin; one killed and 16 injured
According to the German police, at least one person died following an alleged attack at the edge of the “Christopher Street Day” parade in Berlin. “Christopher Street Day” is an annual celebration held by sexual minorities against discrimination.
Based on initial information, a man drove a car into the crowd. A suspect linked to the Berlin Islamist scene has also been identified.
The incident took place late on Saturday, 3 Mordad (25 July), and the police stopped the event at around 10 p.m. According to reports, a vehicle ran over several people on a pedestrian path in “Tiergarten,” near Potsdamer Platz, and then collided with a tree.
With regard to statements by witnesses, the police are also investigating the possibility that a cold weapon was used. The driver fled after the incident.
The victim was a woman who died at the scene. According to the latest police information, at least 16 others were also injured, with the condition of three of them critical and their lives in danger, and eight more people were seriously injured.
The police also said that they have identified a suspect.
