🔻After the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on Tuesday that it had “captured” an American unmanned underwater vessel, and CENTCOM also confirmed the report, saying that the U.S. Navy’s drone had suffered a technical malfunction 24 hours earlier, the “Sepah News” news website published images that it said show the unmanned submarine when it is being pulled out of the water.
On Tuesday, Commander Adam Hawkins, the CENTCOM spokesperson, in response to the BBC and in a statement, said: “A U.S. forces drone experienced a technical malfunction more than a day ago. The drone was conducting patrols in the regional waters in support of ongoing operations.”
He also said: “This was an older model that collected neither sensitive information nor carried radar equipment or classified sensors. U.S. operations in the regional waters continue.”
In reaction to the statements by the CENTCOM commander, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that the fact that this unmanned underwater vessel was active and in operation demonstrates the importance of the naval weapons.
