What does a patient in Iran do?

This is a story about patients whose illnesses remain as they are, but whose medicines are either not found or they no longer have the ability to buy them.

According to a field report, the prices of some medicines over the course of a year have risen to between two and nearly five times the prices of the previous year, and the share the patient has to pay out of their own pocket has reached the threshold of 80 percent.

The result is painful choices: medicine or rent? A mother’s insulin or a baby’s formula? A test or buying food?

Reducing the dose or stopping medication on one’s own is dangerous; but when there is no medicine and no money, what does the patient do?

Which medicine have you had trouble finding, or which treatment have you had trouble receiving? Was the medicine not found? Did its price become several times higher? Did your insurance fail to cover the costs? What forced choice has this situation imposed on you?
