Users on social media in Iran report severe slowness of the internet, unstable connections, and disruptions in access to some services. These disruptions are being reported while Iran had previously, during the recent war, experienced one of the longest periods of internet shutdowns and restrictions; a disruption that interrupted millions of users’ connections to the global internet for weeks and for nearly three months. This comes as, at the same time as the funeral ceremonies for Ali Khamenei, government officials said there was no plan to cut or restrict the internet and even that network capacity along the routes of the ceremonies would be strengthened. However, user reports from Tehran and several other cities indicate that the internet has not been completely cut off, but is instead accompanied by noticeable slowness, instability, and disruptions.
