Yadollah Safavi, representative of Ardabil Province in the Assembly of Experts for Leadership and Friday prayer leader of Garmi, said, criticizing the way mandatory veiling is being carried out in the country, that the implementation of God’s order regarding veiling has been left pending due to what he called “inconsistencies in conduct,” and should not be delayed out of concern about creating “riots” or being exploited by some people.

He said in a session of the General Culture Council of Ardabil Province that some, with what he described as a negative approach, are trying to make the issue of veiling seem sensitive and riot-provoking, while, according to him, it can be managed by adopting rational solutions.

Safavi also, by referring to the issue of issuing licenses and permits for women to ride motorcycles, said that while the veiling law has not been implemented, addressing such topics compared with the society’s fundamental issues is not a priority.

The Friday prayer leader of Garmi emphasized that the implementation of God’s order regarding veiling should not be stopped or put on hold due to some predictions or the possibility of tension, and added that the precise implementation of this order can help reduce some of the harms in society.
