The Axios news website, citing two informed sources, reported that Donald Trump, the president of the United States, on Friday, the second of Mordad, despite receiving a draft for an attack on targets in Iran, instructed his country’s armed forces not to carry out any new attacks.
According to this report, during the past two weeks Trump had approved attack plans presented by the military every afternoon, and these attacks were carried out a few hours later. According to sources, on Friday as well Trump received a similar plan, but did not approve it and issued an order to halt the attacks.
Axios wrote that this decision could indicate Trump’s desire to create more room for diplomacy, as well as his assessment of the limited effectiveness of the current level of U.S. attacks, without returning to broad military operations.
As Axios wrote, the U.S. military is still planning for a possible return to broad military operations, but so far Trump has not issued an order to begin such operations, and if he does issue an order, the U.S. military could resume the attacks within a short period.
