In response to Iran International, US CENTCOM confirmed that Iranian small boats in the Strait of Hormuz attempted to seize an American surface-to-surface ship, but failed due to a decisive response from U.S. forces.

Axios, citing American officials, reported that the two boats belonged to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and that the U.S. military destroyed them. According to one of these sources, most of the occupants of these boats were killed in the attack.

Ahmad Nafisi, the deputy governor of Hormozgan Province, had previously described the two vessels as fishing boats.
