🔶 United States: Targeting an American naval drone is “pure lie”
The United States has denied Iran’s claim that it targeted “an American unmanned vessel” in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it “a complete lie.”
The public relations of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on Sunday, September 6 (15 Shahrivar), in a statement that it had carried out an attack on a remotely guided vessel (naval drone or “shamphad”) belonging to the U.S. Army as it entered the Strait of Hormuz.
In the statement, published by Iranian domestic media as Statement No. 11, the IRGC Navy claimed that the American vessel intended to enter the “protected area of the Strait of Hormuz,” where it was targeted.
Iran claims that it launched this attack in response to the U.S. Army’s attack on three Iranian oil tankers.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic also, on Saturday, Shahrivar 14, by issuing a statement, condemned the U.S. attacks on the tankers and called them “war crime, a violation of the UN Charter, and an open threat to the security of commercial shipping.”
