🔶 Former U.S. defense secretary: Trump is stuck in a deadlock of Iran war
The Guardian, in a report published on Sunday, September 6 (15 Shahrivar), spoke with Leon Panetta, the former U.S. defense secretary, about Iran’s war.
In the interview, he warned that the war with Iran will likely continue “for another six months,” and that Donald Trump is trying to find a way out of this “controversial clash.”
Panetta told The Guardian: “A war with Iran has the risk of becoming another endless war in the Middle East, with no clear end.”
He, who was the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) during the presidency of Barack Obama, adds: “It’s not a secret that the United States is stuck in a horrific deadlock in which there are very few options for ending this war; this conflict is on the path to becoming another failed war in the Middle East like Iraq and Afghanistan.”
Panetta’s interview with The Guardian took place a few days after the sudden resignation of Dan Driscoll, the U.S. secretary of the Army, amid the clashes and following reports of tensions with Pete Hegseth, the country’s defense minister, over a series of dismissals.
