Trump on the oil situation and Iran: Everything will be resolved well

🔸Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said on Saturday, September 21, during his trip to Ireland that he expects the situation related to Iran to be resolved.

🔸According to Reuters, when asked by reporters whether, given renewed concerns about Saudi Arabia, he can help with maritime transit through the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said: “Everything will be resolved well.”

🔸Trump’s brief remarks were made as Saudi Arabia, after a drone attack from Iraqi territory, temporarily shut its strategic East-West pipeline, and the Iran-backed Houthis also strengthened their position in one of the world’s most important shipping routes by seizing the island of Perim in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

🔸According to Reuters, Mohammed bin Salman has asked Trump for military assistance to confront the Houthis, but Washington has so far agreed only to an exchange of information and assistance in setting targets.

🔸Trump arrived in Dublin for a two-day trip and is scheduled to meet with Catherine Connolly, the President of Ireland, and Michael Martin, the Prime Minister of the country. The Irish officials’ concerns about the Iran war and commercial matters are likely to be among the topics of these discussions.

🔸The Iran war and the increase in gasoline prices have added to Americans’ economic concerns ahead of the November midterm election.

🔸Trump is also scheduled to attend the Irish Open golf competitions on Sunday at the venue owned by his family company in Dunbeg.

🔸Meanwhile, Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, who traveled to New Delhi on Saturday to attend the BRICS summit, said in a meeting with Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysia’s prime minister: “We are not looking for war or for the continuation of war.”

🔸Pezeshkian also added: “We do not need a regional gendarme; territorial integrity and regional security will be achieved only by the main players there and the countries of the region.”
