🔸The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic has given one of the employees of the Swedish embassy in Iran 48 hours to leave Tehran.
🔸The news comes after, on Wednesday, 25 Shahrivar, the Swedish government expelled one of the employees of the Iranian embassy in Stockholm and summoned Iran’s ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of that country.
🔸According to Sweden’s foreign minister, the Iranian embassy employee, whose identity had not been disclosed, was expelled for carrying out actions “incompatible with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”
🔸Sweden’s minister of justice had recently accused the Iranian government of carrying out “hostile conduct” and threatening Israel’s interests on the territory of that country.
🔸On 26 Shahrivar, Iran’s foreign ministry public relations department rejected the content of the Swedish ministry of justice’s statement in a statement and condemned the expulsion of the Iranian diplomat. The Swedish ambassador in Tehran was also summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
🔸Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs attributes the expulsion of its employee in Stockholm to “Israel’s meddling.”
