🔸A traffic police official said that in the current month, on average, more than 50 people in Iran have been killed in intercity road accidents.
🔸Ahmad Kerami Asad, deputy of the Traffic Police Commander of Iran’s Law Enforcement Force, said on Wednesday, 26 Shahrivar, that in the current month more than 1,609 people across the country died as a result of crashes on intercity roads.
🔸An up-to-date figure for the total number of victims of traffic incidents in Iran is not available, but the Forensic Medicine Organization had announced earlier this year, in Khordad, that in 1404, 19,540 people died in traffic-related incidents, and that this figure had not changed significantly compared with the year before, when the number of fatalities was 19,435.
🔸Based on published statistics, between 1373 and 1399, more than 509,000 people were killed in Iran due to road traffic accidents. To understand the magnitude of this figure, one can refer to the eight-year Iran-Iraq war, in which the total number of deaths in Iran reached about 190,000.
