Two Iraqi security sources told the news agency that Iraq has shut the crossing as a precautionary measure following a drone attack launched from Iraq against the East-West oil pipeline of Saudi Arabia.

The Shalamcheh border crossing is one of the main land routes between Iran and Iraq.

According to reports, the drone fired at Saudi Arabia was launched from Maysan Province in Iraq. The province is located in the southeast of Iraq and borders Iran; its administrative center is the city of Amarah.
