Possible secrets of biological weapons on a remote island in Russia

🔸A scientific center located on a remote island in the Russian Federation—access to which is also closed to the public—cooperates with an institute suspected of developing biological and bioweapons for the Russian army.

🔸The issue has been reported by the Russian service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and its investigative unit known as “Sistima.”

🔸Small and scattered islands of the “Vishnëvolotskoye” waterbody located in the “Tver” region in the northwestern outskirts of Moscow were once a place for local leisure, fishing, and fruit-picking. But since three years ago, when the northern part of this waterbody was designated as a “protected natural area,” public access to a number of these islands—including the “Lisiy” island—has been restricted; an island that now hosts a “Center for Experimental Physiology.”

🔸Sistima and the Russian service of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty have learned that the head of this center is “Vladimir Maksimov,” a former official of the 48th branch of the Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The institute is considered the main center for the development of defense systems against biological weapons and, together with two other Russian research centers, has been placed on the list of U.S. sanctions for activities in the field of chemical and biological weapons programs since six years ago.
