MOMENT: Iran launches missiles, drones towards US vessels
Iran’s military has released video it says shows missiles and drones being launched toward US vessels and oil tankers, in retaliation for the latest American strikes on five Iranian oil tankers.
Iranian state media also reported missile strikes targeting US positions in Jordan.
Jordan’s military said its air defenses intercepted 18 ballistic missiles, with two others falling in unpopulated areas. No casualties were reported. The latest strikes come after the US said it destroyed five Iranian crude oil tankers following two Iranian attempts to attack a US warship with ballistic missiles.
Washington and Tehran are also vying for control of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil route that carried around one-fifth of global oil supplies before the war.
