ISNA has gone to see a number of shopkeepers and tradespeople in the city of Mashhad and asked them about power outages and electricity cuts.
The report states that since about two weeks ago, when the outage schedule was announced and it was supposed that the electricity cuts would be “between 14 and 16,” but according to the business owners, the power is connected with a delay and most “outages continue from 14 to 17.”
In its report, ISNA says that some newly built arcades in Mashhad are equipped with solar panels and supply part of their required electricity through them, but older arcades often go into full blackout.
In the ISNA report, it is stated: “In a situation where recession and economic pressures are casting a shadow over the market, many sellers do not even leave their shops during the hours of outage, and wait with hope for the entry of even one customer; a hope that for many of them means covering part of their daily expenses and keeping their business circulation going.”
With the start of summer, many people in different parts of Iran experience power outages almost every day.
