🔻Iraqi asks the European Union to hold Ukraine accountable

Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, in a telephone call with Kaja Kallas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, strongly condemned what Tehran described as Ukraine’s attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, and called for those responsible for the attack and its supporters to be held accountable.

Mr. Araghchi asked the United Nations Security Council, the European Union, and the international community to respond firmly to this action.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that in the attack, one sailor was killed and another person was injured. Ukraine had previously announced that it had targeted two Russian vessels that were being used to transport military cargoes associated with Iran in the Caspian Sea.

It has been reported that the Iranian foreign minister and the EU foreign policy chief also discussed developments in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and emphasized the need to use diplomatic solutions to manage tensions.
