🔻Baqaii: Iran will support the political resolution of Yemen’s crisis based on the agreed roadmap
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern about recent tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi rebels, and called for efforts to reach a fair solution to the Yemen crisis and to prevent the escalation of insecurity and instability in the region.
According to the Mehr News Agency, Ismail Baqaii said on Saturday that Iran would support any constructive initiative and assistance to advance talks and the political settlement of Yemen’s crisis, based on the agreed roadmap and with the aim of helping restore peace, security, and lasting stability in the country.
Mr. Baqaii said: “U.S. policies in the region have caused further complexity in the current situation.”
He emphasized that regional security and stability must be ensured through dialogue, cooperation, and understanding among the countries of the region.
After announcing a trade ban on maritime shipping against Saudi Arabia, Yemen’s Houthis carried out several attacks on shipping in the Red Sea in recent days.
In response to this maritime blockade, Saudi Arabia targeted the Houthis’ positions in the port city of Al Hudaydah in Yemen, as well as an island near it.
