Iranian media have reported that Saudi Arabia’s maritime blockade has been announced by Yemen’s armed forces; an action that, as tensions in the region continue to intensify, could expand the scope of the crisis in the strategic waterways of the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea.

According to a statement released by Yemen’s armed forces, the full maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia—based on what is referred to as the “blockade-for-blockade equation”—has been implemented from Monday noon, 29 Tir 1405.
