🔻The Iranian film “The Accused Did Not Express Regret,” directed by Ramin Soltani, won the Best Film award at the third edition of the “Women, Life, Freedom” International Short Film Festival.
Hossein Khandan, a film director and one of the festival organizers, told BBC Persian that out of 20 nominated films across four sections, five films were selected as winners.
The film “Body,” directed by Eshkan Ahmadi from Iran, won the narrative section. “Innocent Prisoner,” directed by Makrand Lakshmikanth Joshi from India, received the animation section award. “Wasca; The Forest Is My Family,” directed by Nina Gualinga from Ecuador, won the documentary section, and the film “Women,” directed by Edita Braun from Austria, received the experimental section award.
Mohammadali Behbudi, a theater, television, and cinema actor in Germany and one of the festival organizers in Cologne, told BBC Persian that over the past three years, the festival has become more international, and the aim of holding it in different cities is to connect with audiences beyond the Iranian community outside the country.
The festival will be held from 16 to 21 September.
