🔻Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday reacted to the statement of the Arab League foreign ministers’ summit and condemned some of its provisions.
In a statement dated 18 Shahrivar, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: “Iran once again emphasizes its undisputed sovereignty over the islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb as integral parts of Iranian territory, and, while condemning any territorial claim in this regard, states that Iran’s sovereignty over these islands is based on historical records, the continuous exercise of sovereign authority, and recognized principles of international law, and that the repetition of baseless claims in political statements will not change the geographical, historical, and legal realities related to these islands.”
The statement also referred to the war in Yemen and Iran’s support for the Houthis in that country: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently, while emphasizing the need to preserve Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity, supported Yemeni–Yemeni dialogue based on the agreed roadmap.”
