IAEA Director General said the agency in the recent reporting period received no information from the Islamic Republic about the status of declared nuclear materials or facilities and had no access to any of those facilities.
Rafael Grossi, on Monday, at the Agency’s Board of Governors meeting in Vienna, said: “The Agency has not received any information from Iran regarding the status of its declared nuclear materials or facilities, nor has it had access to any of those facilities in order to carry out on-site verification activities. Therefore, the Agency was unable to carry out its safeguards responsibilities under the NPT safeguards agreement at Iran’s declared nuclear facilities.”
The IAEA Director General added that the result of this situation is inability to verify.
He said: “As a result, we were unable to verify their status for safeguards purposes and related nuclear material, and for that reason I cannot also report on the implementation of the relevant regulations by Iran.”
