🔶 BRICS member countries called for "maximum restraint" in the Middle East

The 11-country BRICS group members on Saturday, September 12, at the end of the New Delhi meeting, in a joint statement, called for avoiding actions that could intensify the crisis in the Middle East and West Asia.

In the BRICS joint statement, it said: «We express our deep concern about the continued escalation of tensions in the Middle East and West Asia and, while recalling the national stances of each of the countries, we call for the implementation of maximum restraint and for refraining from actions that could make the situation worse.»

The importance of this statement is that both Iran and the United Arab Emirates, alongside China, Russia, India and other BRICS members, have supported it.

The new BRICS statement was issued after Xi Jinping, the President of China, also said at the New Delhi meeting that the war in the Middle East has inflicted serious damage on the people of the region and is not compatible with the common interests of the international community.
