🔻 Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, in response to Donald Trump’s latest remarks said: “Seizing the assets of a country in order to pay possible and unrelated claims in the future creates a dangerous precedent and incites unrest.”
Mr. Araqchi was referring to a post by the U.S. president on Thursday evening in which he said: “From this moment onward, any damage inflicted on ships, cargoes, or anything related to them will be paid out of Iran’s assets that are in the possession of and under the control of the United States.”
In response to these remarks, Iran’s foreign minister said: “Those who welcome such sources or benefit from them should remember that when governments turn the seizure of others’ property into a routine practice, then no assets will enjoy security and immunity.”
