🔸 Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization: Nearly 6,000 sailors remain stranded in the Persian Gulf

Arsenio Domingues, secretary-general of the International Maritime Organization, said on Wednesday, July 8 (17 Tir) that nearly 6,000 sailors are still stranded in the Persian Gulf and, due to the renewed escalation of tensions, called for “maximum restraint and de-escalation.”

These remarks came after U.S. President Donald Trump said that the ceasefire with Iran has ended.

In a statement, Domingues said he condemns the attacks of the past two days on several ships that were transiting through the Strait of Hormuz.

He described the attacks as “reckless” and said these actions once again exposed civilian seafarers to serious danger.

The secretary-general of the International Maritime Organization emphasized that the continuation of such attacks threatens the lives of innocent sailors and worsens the maritime security situation in one of the most sensitive waterways in the world.
