We call this evil Marxism.

But in reality, Marxism is nothing more or less than the modern form of a far older evil: being possessed by the spirit of envy and hatred that drove Cain to kill his brother Abel.

Thus, the Book of Genesis portrays humanity as trapped in an eternal fratricidal conflict.

Those who do not accept true sacrifice become embittered and resentful in their subsequent failures (that is, “rejection by God”).

Instead of repentance and change, they seek revenge.

And whom do they target? Those who try to do what is right and offer the best.

It is hard to believe how much wisdom the Genesis author has compressed into a few lines of this story. You might even come to believe that God Himself had a hand in writing it.

It really is astonishing. The first two humans born in history were, in order: a good, sincere, and constructive man, and his brother, who allowed himself to be consumed by hatred and a desire for destruction.
