Warning: This report contains distressing details that may be upsetting for some audiences. ‌Roya Asadi, editor of the BBC Persian fact-checking section

From the moment the news of the attack on the Shajare Tayyebah school in Minab was released, the BBC Persian fact-checking section began investigating this tragedy.

Due to the restrictions the Iranian government has imposed on the BBC Persian section, we were unable to go to Minab or use BBC English images or those from news agencies in Minab. However, in the past months, we continued our investigations by reviewing satellite images, videos that were also shared on social media, speaking with military and legal experts, and speaking with local residents and the families of the children who were killed.

This report, along with a short documentary titled “Bloody Saturday in Minab,” shown on BBC Persian television and available on YouTube, is the result of these investigations. Read the full report on the BBC Persian website and watch the documentary on the BBC Persian YouTube channel. (Links in the story and bio)
