Turkey’s foreign minister, Friday, 19 Tir (10 July), said in an interview with the state-run TRT network and the National newspaper that it appears there is a misunderstanding and a lack of communication between the United States and the Islamic Republic about how ships are to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Hakan Fidan added that after a phone call with Abbas Araqchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, he has found a clearer understanding of the root of the disagreement and believes the issue can be resolved through negotiations.

Abbas Araqchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, arrived in the capital of Oman on Saturday morning to discuss maritime security in Hormuz.
