The U.S. State Department announced that Washington, within the framework of “economic expulsion operations,” has placed measures against the Islamic Republic’s terrorist proxy forces such as Iraq’s Kataib Hezbollah, Hezbollah Lebanon, and broader financial networks that fund the activities of these groups on its agenda.

In a statement, the U.S. State Department spokesperson wrote that these groups are tools of the Islamic Republic to expand violence and destabilizing actions across the Middle East and the world, and they threaten Iraq’s and Lebanon’s security, the lives of employees and America’s diplomatic facilities in the region, and global energy flows.

The U.S. Department of State placed Kataib Hezbollah on the list of foreign terrorist organizations in 2009.

Thomas Piegat added that the group has intensified threats against U.S. interests and, among other things, recently had a plan to attack Jewish institutions in the United States.
