The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that its advanced air defense system tracked and destroyed an American MQ-9 drone in Iranian airspace.

According to a statement published by the Tasnim news agency, the drone was brought down in the early hours of the morning over Qeshm Island.

This is the second claim by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the past two days. On Tuesday, the institution said it had hit an American MQ-1 drone in the west of the Strait of Hormuz.

Early Sunday morning, Qeshm Island was the scene of an attack on an Iranian commercial vessel, leaving one person dead and four injured.
