Tehran police detained a person for posting a video on social media
Tehran police said today it has arrested a person in the southwest of Tehran who intended to increase his audience on social media by producing “thuggish” videos.
🔻Police say the individual “by taking advantage of cyberspace and publishing images and rule-breaking videos, sought to create a false picture of his social standing and influence for himself by showing his connection to certain people with records.”
In a statement from Tehran police, it says that “the dissemination of images of weapons, bragging, incitement to conflict, and promoting thuggish behavior” are criminal acts and that the police will take action against these individuals.
Meanwhile, the Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace in Iran denied recent reports about this body’s approval for “dealing with bloggers and social media celebrities” and announced that the Supreme Council has not held such a session for more than a year.
The secretariat asked media outlets to refrain from reposting unsubstantiated remarks and news.
In recent months, especially after the war, arrests, detentions, and convictions of people for publishing content on social media in Iran have intensified.
