🔶 Spain became world football champion with a commanding win over Argentina

The Spain national football team won the 2026 FIFA World Cup final as world champions with a commanding victory over Argentina in extra time. After 2010, this is the second time that Spain’s national team has kissed the championship trophy.

At the start of the second half of the 2026 World Cup final, it was Spain that, as in the first half, held control of the ball and the field. In the first quarter of the match, Spain was still trying to get past Argentina’s defensive line. To neutralize the attacks, Argentina’s players had no choice at times but to commit fouls.

Spain’s best opportunity came in the 63rd minute, midway through the second half. Dani Olmo (red shirt), the Spain national player who had the ball, fired a powerful shot from behind the penalty area toward Argentina’s goal, but Argentina’s goalkeeper deflected the shot wide, preventing his goal from being opened.
