Saudi Arabia and Egypt’s foreign ministers rejected, in a phone call, any efforts to disrupt passage through international waterways. Faisal bin Farhan and Badr Abdelatty on Saturday emphasized the need to protect global shipping.

Based on a statement by Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers called for an immediate halt to all military operations and stressed that a political and diplomatic solution is the only possible path to end the current crisis.

Faisal bin Farhan also, on the same day, held a separate call with Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.

On Saturday, Egypt’s foreign minister also spoke by phone separately with Abbas Araghchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and called for an immediate stop to all military and escalation-inducing actions.
