Reza Najafi, the representative of the Islamic Republic in the International Atomic Energy Agency, said that the United States may use the agency’s new resolution to intensify tensions and begin a new military operation against Iran.

In an interview with China’s CGTN television network, Najafi said that in the past, after the approval of an agency resolution, military operations against Iran were carried out, and that this could happen again.

He called the agency’s decision to refer the file of the Islamic Republic to the United Nations Security Council political, and said that U.S. and Israeli attacks have prevented inspectors from gaining access to some of Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Najafi said that the Islamic Republic’s cooperation with the agency will continue and that inspectors are expected to go to Iran to inspect the Bushehr nuclear power plant. According to him, access to the facilities that were targeted depends on the end of the hostilities.

He added that after reviewing the consequences of the resolution, the Islamic Republic will decide on its response and said: “We will defend ourselves until the end.”
