🔶 June "deadliest month for civilians in Ukraine in 4 years"
The United Nations announced on Tuesday, July 14 (23 Tir), that the number of civilians killed in Ukraine in June was higher than in any other month since April 2022; a development that coincided with the escalation of Russian long-range missile attacks.
In recent months, Russia has intensified its attacks on densely populated urban areas, especially Kyiv, the country’s capital, taking advantage of Ukraine’s shortage of air defense missiles.
The UN human rights monitoring mission in Ukraine stated: "At least 293 civilians were killed in Ukraine in June 2026 and 1,990 people were injured."
This is the highest figure since April 2022, the second month after Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine; a war that has now been underway for four and a half years.
The UN added: "This increase is mainly due to Russian long-range missile attacks that have targeted mostly urban centers far from the front line."
