Israeli media reported that Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, is expected to travel to Washington on Saturday evening to follow up a meeting with Donald Trump, the U.S. president. So far, no official meeting between the two leaders has been scheduled.
Accordingly, it has been announced that Netanyahu is seeking a meeting with Trump in the wake of the U.S. resuming a maritime blockade of the ports of the Islamic Republic. One of the reasons for this effort is to rebuild the trust that had been undermined after the war with the Islamic Republic.
Israel also wants to provide its intelligence information to Washington before any possible U.S.-Islamic Republic negotiations for a final agreement. It is insisting on red lines, including the complete removal of enriched uranium from the soil of the Islamic Republic and a total ban on enrichment.
If the trip takes place, it will be Netanyahu’s seventh trip to the United States since the start of Trump’s second presidential term.
