Israel’s Kan network reported that the country’s army, after destroying the tunnels in Ali al-Taher Heights, in southern Lebanon, is preparing to significantly reduce its forces in southern Lebanon and to establish a new security line at a distance of two to four kilometers from the Israel-Lebanon border.
According to this report, the initial plan includes setting up a number of military positions on Lebanese soil and bringing the deployment line of Israeli forces closer to the border. The line is intended to replace the current security zone, which encompasses a larger part of southern Lebanon.
Kan reported that this plan has not yet been finalized and has not received approval from Israeli political officials. How the areas from which forces are evacuated will be handed over to the Lebanese army, and how the return of Hezbollah forces to those areas will be prevented, is also still under review.
