The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that, in retaliation for the deaths of Islamic Republic forces in Iranshahr, it targeted a command center for U.S. special operations forces in Syria’s Tanf.

This claim has not been confirmed by independent sources, and the Syrian government and the U.S. Army have not yet made any statements about it.

In February, the U.S. Army had announced that it had completed its withdrawal from the Tanf base, located at the intersection of the borders of Syria, Jordan, and Iraq.
