🔶 IRGC claims a ship hit a mine in the Strait of Hormuz

The Public Relations Office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced in an early-morning statement on Thursday, July 23 (1 Mordad), that it had stopped three ships that intended to transit through the Strait of Hormuz. The statement claimed that these ships had intended to take “the mine-laying route in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz,” and that after an explosion and a severe fire on one of them, the other two vessels quickly turned around and returned.

Emphasizing its “control over the Strait of Hormuz,” the IRGC warned that any ship that intends to transit this waterway without coordination with the Islamic Republic would face “the same fate.”

In its statement, the IRGC did not mention the names of the ships or the time when the incident occurred. So far, no independent reports from reputable media outlets or international institutions about a ship hitting a mine in the Strait of Hormuz in the past hours have been published.
