The Iran Human Rights campaign on the issuance of a death sentence for Hossein Rasooli-Nasab, one of those detained in the protests in the previous year’s Dey (December), wrote: “Carrying out the death sentence of at least 29 imprisoned Dey 1404 (2025) protesters—killed in the bloody Dey 1404—has increased serious concerns about the safety of other detainees in the Dey protests, and indicates the continuation of heavy security-related accusations against detained protesters and the issuance of harsh verdicts based on these allegations in unlawful Revolutionary Courts.”

The human rights organization added that its investigations show that “most of the defendants in these cases are young people who previously had no record of detention or any clearly defined, organized political activity, and who do not have sufficient knowledge of their legal rights and the ways in which interrogations are conducted and security pressures are applied.”
