Internal media in Iran have reported that due to “crowding,” the vehicle carrying the coffin of the slain leader of the Islamic Republic and members of his family was taken off the main funeral route.

The report confirmed that the action was carried out so that the burial ceremony would be held as planned for the prayer to be conducted inside the shrine of the Eighth Imam of Shiites.

According to IRNA, due to crowding, the vehicle changed route from Dānesh Square in Mashhad and moved toward the Chemyā Ferdowsi grounds so that they could transfer the coffins to the shrine by helicopter.
