Donald Trump, the U.S. president, met on Friday with his senior advisers and senior members of his administration to decide on escalating a military attack against the Islamic Republic.
Citing “four people who were present during the discussion,” The New York Times wrote: “The meeting took place as Trump faced a potential turning point in his approach to Iran after the collapse of a fragile ceasefire and an agreement that was supposed to bring the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table for long-term nuclear disarmament.”
According to the report, the White House did not disclose whether Trump had set out how to act against the Islamic Republic. But Trump said the military is ready to carry out heavier strikes if ordered, even while keeping the door open for a diplomatic solution.
