Dalga Khatīn‌ōghlu, an oil and energy expert, said that the increase in gasoline prices creates only around one billion dollars in annual revenue for the government, while this figure neither compensates for losses caused by oil sanctions nor covers the cost of gasoline imports.

He added that raising gasoline prices alone will not significantly reduce consumption, because the growth in the number of vehicles and the decrease in the consumption of compressed natural gas (CNG) have increased demand for gasoline. According to Khatīn‌ōghlu, this policy will put the greatest pressure on drivers and workers in the transportation sector.
