🔶 China and Pakistan asked the United States and Iran to resume talks
The foreign ministers of China and Pakistan on Friday, 26 Tir (17 July), urged the United States and the Islamic Republic to halt hostilities and resume negotiations.
The request was raised during the trip of Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s foreign minister, to China, and in a meeting with his Chinese counterpart in Shanghai.
In a statement, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Wang Yi and Ishaq Dar jointly expressed concern about the worsening of the current situation and urged Iran and the United States to return to the negotiating table by bringing hostilities to an immediate end.
In a report, the newspaper “Asharq Al-Awsat” wrote that China and Pakistan have sought mediation in the Middle East dispute in recent months.
The current fighting resumed one month after the signing of a preliminary agreement aimed at putting an end to the war, as fighting restarted over the Strait of Hormuz.
