🔻Car attack on a gathering at a Pride march in Berlin; one dead and 15 injured
The Berlin police say that as a result of a vehicle entering a crowd near the annual LGBTQ Pride event in this city, one person was killed and 15 others were injured. Several of the injured have reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening in the central park of Tiergarten, near the Brandenburg Gate. According to the police, a light-colored car, after hitting several people, collided with a tree and came to a stop.
The police said that when the emergency services arrived, the vehicle was empty and a large-scale operation was launched to find the perpetrator or perpetrators of the incident. The Bild newspaper, citing a witness, reported that the vehicle was a van and that a man fled on foot after it stopped.
Hundreds of thousands of people had gathered in central Berlin to take part in the annual “Christopher Street Day” event, one of the largest events of the LGBTQ community in Europe. The motive behind the incident is not yet known.
