Axios reported that Mohammed bin Salman asked Donald Trump in two phone calls to target Yemen’s Houthis, but the U.S. president rejected the request.
According to an Axios report, the Saudi crown prince called Trump twice on Thursday, September 19, and urged an attack on the Houthis. Axios published the news citing two U.S. officials.
Reuters said it was unable to independently verify the report.
Reuters’ request to the White House and the Saudi embassy in Washington for comment, sent outside business hours, went unanswered until the time the report was published.
Meanwhile, CNN, citing five sources, reported that more than 100 U.S. military advisers in Saudi Arabia are providing targeting information and support to this country.
At the same time, the escalation of the fighting with the Houthis has increased concerns about the opening of a new front in the region.
