Arash Azarmi, the editor of Iran International’s economic section, said that the U.S. sanctions on the Russian bank VTB are, in addition to limiting one of the channels for bypassing sanctions for the Islamic Republic, a warning to other banks and financial institutions that cooperate with this bank and financial resources linked to Iran.

He added that the VTB office in Tehran, its ties with various banks, and the creation of a ruble and riyal settlement mechanism have turned this bank into one of the important financial channels of the Islamic Republic.
