A group of women, along with Niloufar Mojaveri’s family, who died last week following torture and rape by a man, went to her grave at the Zargatan cemetery in Piranshahr and, by placing bright red flowers and lighting candles, condemned Niloufar’s horrific violence and killing.
Niloufar Mojaveri, a young woman from the Piranshahr and Oshnavieh area, was transferred to a medical center with severe injuries 10 days after she left her home and, after brain death was announced, she died. Her family hold a 41-year-old man responsible for this incident and say that during this time Niloufar faced severe physical and sexual violence. However, the reports published have not referred to medical documentation or an official Forensic Medicine opinion regarding these claims, and the police and the judiciary are still investigating the cause of her injuries and the role of individuals connected to the case.
Kurdpa reported that the suspect in the case had not been arrested until the report was published and was on the run, and that the family filed a complaint after Niloufar was hospitalized. Rokna also wrote, quoting the prosecutor of Oshnavieh, that operations to identify the person’s whereabouts and arrest him were continuing. After Niloufar’s brain death was diagnosed, her family agreed to donate her two kidneys.
