Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council said it had seized $11 million, 4 billion Iraqi dinars, and several property documents from the home of Ali Muarij Swaidj Bahadli.
The Iraqi official, who serves as deputy oil minister for distribution affairs, was sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department last month.
According to Iraqi judicial authorities, he is accused of using his position to divert Iraqi oil in favor of the Islamic Republic and its affiliated militia groups.
The Supreme Judicial Council also released photos of his home and said the items were discovered and confiscated during a search of the premises.
