Foad Izadi, an expert on U.S. affairs, said that Iran has continuously called on the United States to lift sanctions.

He added that the decision to lift sanctions is not solely in Donald Trump’s hands and that a large part of it depends on the U.S. Congress.

The remarks come as debate continues over possible paths to reducing or lifting U.S. sanctions against Iran.
